You Know It’s Winter in Scandinavia When…

You never really see daylight. Other than on weekends (if you live south). It’s dark when you go to work in the morning and it’s dark when you leave work in the afternoon. And Scandinavians don’t really work that late.

You can never leave the house without looking like the Michelin Man. Wool shirts, big sweaters, huge parkas, warm boots, scarfs, gloves, hats. I could go on.

You can’t walk normal outside. You have to walk with smaller steps and kind of flex every muscle in your legs, in order not to slip on the ice. I think Scandinavians develop a special technique for this.
